BLUFFING IN POKER TOURNAMENTS
Bluffing is an important part of poker and it should be a facet of your game if you want to be successful. Many times bluffing is done when you can read the player at the table. When gambling online you can't do this but there are still times when you can read the situation and a bluff is more likely to work. It is important to keep the players at the table guessing about how strong your hand is at all times. If you do not do so your game can be predictable and the players will usually know what you have. But you have to know that you have to be careful when you bluff. If the timing of when you bluff is off it can cost you. Here are some tips on when buffing may be a good option.
Times when you may want to bluff:
1. You play a tight game. If you are conservative throughout the game your bluff is more likely to work. Other players will think that you have a strong hand if you bet, raise or re-raise and they will be more likely to fold.
2. The cards on the board have not helped anyone. If this happens it is more likely that the players do not have a good hand and will fold if you make a strong bet.
3. There is only one player on the table. The call-down risk is lower when there is only one person left on the table. Plus the pots tend to be smaller so they are not as attractive to the other player so they may fold.
4. You are sitting in a late position on the table and it is checked to you. But even if this is the case you have to take into consideration the size of the pot and the cards that are on the board. Also someone else may be trying to suck you into to making a bet since it was checked to you so you have to be careful.
5. The size of the pot is small. If the pot size is small it will make taking the pot less attractive and the other players are more likely to fold if they do not have a strong hand.
