Ongame Network's head honcho Martin Lerby empahasises that after yesterdays French approvals there is an immediate opportunity in the newly regulated poker market.Seven licenses were issued yesterday for online poker compared to 10 for sports and horse betting. Lerby did caution that the success of the French Poker market that has been regulated will depend on what the French Government will do to prevent the unlicensed poker rooms from continuing to do business.
Regulated poker is set to take effect on June 28 following the ARJEL's publication of the poker decree. Two of the French poker gaming licenses went to Ongame's French network owner Bwin. Unibet also announced it will be joining Ongames French network in the third quarter of the year as long as it receives regulatory clearance is obtained.
